Grib Gripe 1

Well, it's finally that time. Just when I was finally finding my calm, Grib has to go and drive me up a freakin wall. Here are the Grib current events:

Yesterday: I had not been sleeping well for about a week. I barely slept Monday night, so I opted to stay home from my H2O Kickboxing glass to try to sleep as exercising while already exhausted is bad. Fine. I actually got some sleep during the morning, so when I was getting ready for work, I decided to take some gym clothes and hit the base gym for my lunch break. Cool. About 4pm, I inform Grib that I will be taking my lunch at 7pm to go to the gym. It's important for us to communicate these things as there are only two of us and at least one of needs to be here at all times. 6:55 pm - Grib decides to leave the room. She knows I'm about to leave, so she says I can go ahead and leave even though she won't be in the room. No. As much as I dislike my job, I still try to do my job. Sure enough, I get a phone call about 5 minutes later and an e-mail while I'm on the phone. I take care of the phone call and the e-mail and Grib finally returns to the room at 7:15. If I had left, that would've been 20 minutes with nobody on the phones. When she comes in, I get my coat on and grab my bag and as I'm about to walk out of my cubicle, she leaves the room again. At this point, I am well past my designated time to leave, so I leave anyway. I return an hour later to find no Grib in the room once again.

Today: Grib got a couple of tickets just before I returned from class. A couple minutes later, our ticketing system pooped out...for 5 minutes. As soon as it took a dump she decided to get her dinner. In that 5 minute time frame, 2 e-mails came in for her regarding a ticket she had just opened. Those e-mails sat there for well over an hour. Why? Because she was eating and then she was on the phone and then she left and then she was on the phone. Even though I usually eat at my desk, I'm still checking everything regularly. Apparently she doesn't. Oh, and this is after I've realized over the last week or so that she doesn't log in to our phone system until at least an hour after she gets here.

A little bit later, our air system starts going haywire. One minute it sounds like a jet engine in here, the next it's totally silent. It's really quite obnoxious. I went upstairs to see if those guys had seen anything abnormal with our environment monitoring system. They hadn't. We start general chit chat, and I start griping about Grib and I say, "I bet when I get back to my cube she either won't be there or she'll be on the phone." When I get back to my cube after maybe 15 minutes upstairs, she's on the damn phone. At first she's discussing the weather. Then the price of oil and the fact that there was an oil spill in Texas so gas prices are going up and then the fact that the gas station she went to this morning was just getting new gas as she was getting gas. WHO GIVES A FLYING FART!?!?!?! Even when I'm talking with my closest friends, we don't waste time on discussing useless crap like this.

In other news...I've lost 10 pounds. Yay. I think I might actually address this further in my next post, if I don't have more gripes before then.

And now...I really have to start on the paper I've been avoiding for 3 weeks.

Peace out!

EDIT: And then there's the ticket hi-jacking. I know that there are times when I don't know everything. I know that there are times that she might know something I don't. But instead of simply hi-jacking my damn ticket and giving the user the answer, why not TELL ME so I will know hereafter?! Of course about 80% of the time, she's really just wasting the user's time with useless crap, but either way, it REALLY pisses me off.

Now back to explicating poetry.

LOL...you poor thing!!!! I'm sorry you have to work with someone like that. I know we've all been there! Brian used to say that when he would work with someone he really couldn't stand, they'd EVENTUALLY be removed from his environment and he was actually correct, so hold onto that thought.... :)
